Background

“I originally wrote this song to honour a movement of paddlers traveling the Salish Sea by human powered craft. Their mission was to connect all of the island communities around the protection of the local marine ecosystems, and resist the expansion of a tar sands pipeline into the Salish Sea. Their project was called Turning the Tide. This song has since traveled all over the world, including being sung by dozens of school classes and choirs in Canada as a part of the CBC music class challenge.
